8 days/Morocco /Moderate to Challenging
This jam-packed Moroccan Fitness Adventure in Morocco is mainly based in the coastal town of Essaouira where you will work on your fitness with a variety of activities from sunrise beach runs, circuit training, and boxercise all while enjoying the culture and beauty of this amazing country. You will also have the opportunity to spend three nights close to the buzzing city of Marrakech before you head out to the Atlas Mountains for an envigorating trek in the awe-inspiring mountain landscape.
The trip is rated moderate to challenging for someone of a reasonable fitness level.  This trip is intended to be very active so you are recommended to do some training in advance to give you the best chance of enjoying the entire experience. During the trip you can get involved in as many or as little activities as you like (there are no compulsory sessions!) but you will get more out of your experience if you arrive in Morocco ready to give everything a go!
The minimum age is 18. It may be possible to participate if you are 16 or 17 years old but you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There is no upper age limit. The ideal candidate would be reasonably fit, healthy and determined, open to adventure and adaptable to unexpected changes.
You will be accompanied by UK tour manager and experienced Fitness Trainer Andy McKee throughout the entire trip. Andy has led trips in Morocco for over 20 years and has been teaching Fitness for even longer. There will also be various Moroccan support staff during the trip.
Flights are not included in the cost however we will make a suggestion on which flights to book nearer the time, so you can meet the pre-arranged airport transfer.
Morocco tends to be fairly dry in April, with very few showers. Temperatures in Essaouira in April tend to range from 20°C to 25°C during the day and drop to around 10 – 14°C at night. Marrakech experiences daytime temperatures of around 25°C – 28°C and nighttime temperatures slightly warmer than Essaouira. Please note: the conditions above are historically accurate but climate change can impact the seasons so you must be prepared for variations to this which are out of our control.
You will stay in a hotel with en-suite facilities while in Marrakech and Essaouira on a twin (or triple-share basis in Marrakech). A single-occupancy hotel room may be possible subject to availability and payment of a single supplement of £195.
The majority of special diets, such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc., can be catered for if we are notified in advance. Please ensure that you notify us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking or as soon as possible. Please note that we cannot guarantee that food preparation will have taken place in a contamination free environment.
You should start training before departure to be able to make the most of this fitness adventure. The best form of training for running is get outside and start running! If this is not convenient then doing the equivalent in the gym is the next best thing.
If you’re not currently a regular runner, start slowly with short distances then as you get more comfortable, increase your mileage and add in more challenging terrain until you can comfortably maintain your pace without needing to stop. The maximum we will run on this trip is 5 km but we will undertake some speed drills too.
Other activities which can complement hill walking include hiking, gym workouts and boot camps etc. Developing your core and leg muscle strength is also important so exercises such as squats, lunges, push-ups, planks and crunches will really enhance your training. These exercises can be done at home; no gym needed. Â You can download a number of free apps, which will help you train and track your progress. E.g. MapMyRide, C25K (couch to 5k run), MyFitnessPal etc.
