Pahar Build Trip 2025

24th Oct 2025 - 2nd Nov 2025

10 days/Nepal /Project Trip

Overview

Join us as we return to Nepal with an exciting new school build.

Nepal is a country of highly diverse and rich geography, culture, and religions. The mountainous north contains eight of the world’s ten highest mountains, including the highest, Mount Everest. The fertile and humid south is heavily urbanized. However, the country is vulnerable to natural disasters and has experienced many earthquakes, floods and landslides over the years.

We will be working alongside Pahar Trust Nepal to build a much needed classroom in the Pokhara area. The exact details of the project will be determined a little closer to departure and will be based on the needs of the community at the time.

More details to follow!

You don’t need any building experience to take part — just enthusiasm, a willingness to work hard and the desire to make a difference!

Pahar Trust Nepal was set up in 1991 by two friends, ex-servicemen Tom Langridge and Chandra Bahadur Gurung of the Queen’s Gurkha Engineers, who shared a mission to build a replacement school in Chandra’s home village in the remote hill region of west Nepal.

Over the years they have worked to build education and health facilities in rural Nepal to help improve opportunities for children, young people and their communities.

This unique trip gives you the opportunity to make a genuine difference for some of Nepal’s children. Working on the projects and a willingness to muck in is appreciated by the locals who find all our efforts useful.

You will also be accompanied by build manager and Different Travel tour manager who will be working alongside our local team in Nepal.

The minimum age to participate in this trip is 18 years old, or 15-17 if accompanied by an adult.

You will stay at hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara district.

The trip cost is based on two sharing a room. If you do not have a travel partner you will be assigned a room-mate of the same gender. If you would like to request a single room, this is available for £250, on a first-come, first-served basis and is subject to availability. Please state this on your booking form.

Temperatures are dependent upon the weather which is usually clear and sunny in the morning, with clouds coming in during the afternoon. You can expect days to be sunny and warm (between 15 ÌŠC to 27 ÌŠC) and nights to be cold (between -5 ÌŠC to 5 ÌŠC). It is important to be prepared for all weather conditions and temperatures by packing technical non-cotton layers and waterproofs.

Please note: The conditions above are historically accurate but climate change can lead to uncharacteristic conditions which are out of our control. The guides will assess the situation and make decisions to ensure the best enjoyment and safety of the group.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included throughout the trip as specified on the itinerary. You will eat at local restaurants in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
A typical breakfast may include a choice between: eggs, omelette, toast, pancakes and porridge.
A typical lunch may include: dal bhat, pasta, noodles, vegetables, rice, soup, fried potato, momos.
A typical dinner may include: soup, dal bhat, vegetables, pasta, noodles/rice, potato dishes.

You will never be asked to do anything outside your physical capabilities and teamwork will be encouraged at all times. No volunteer should feel they have to do something they are not happy or comfortable doing. Be open and honest if you feel you cannot do what you have been asked to. If you do have any reservations about any job you are assigned, please do not hesitate to raise these with your build manager.
