Introducing … Liv Corline, Accounts & Customer Service Executive
Please tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m a keen adventurer and explorer. I was fortunate to travel a lot since I was a child, which gave me a thirst for it as an adult. I’m energetic and a bit mad which works pretty well in this line of work as I’m up for new experiences no matter how challenging. I really enjoy exploring new places but equally love returning to familiar ones and building on my knowledge of the culture and the country. My travels include (but are not limited to) tobogganing in Norway, gorge walking and safaris in Kenya and Tanzania, surfing in Australia, skiing in Andorra, hiking in Croatia and trekking in the Sahara.
I’m always up for a challenge, meeting new groups and having a few flights booked to somewhere!

How long have you been with Different Travel? How did you get involved?
I’ve been part of the Different Travel family since 2019. I joined behind the scenes, and later was excited to be offered a Tour Manager role alongside my day-to-day role in the Different Travel team and I haven’t looked back!
What was your first Different Travel trip? What made it special?
My first Different Travel trip was to the Sahara. It was a chance to see in person what we do as a company, and to see the results of all the hard work we do behind the scenes. Our trips are planned meticulously and we work with amazing teams in the UK and across the world, so I was not disappointed!
The Sahara was what really gave me a thirst for trekking. Sleeping under the stars every night, trekking across the vast and continuously changing terrains, and getting away from technology, gave me the time to really appreciate the simple and important things in life. The Sahara is a truly magical place, where I feel at home, (I think I must’ve been a Berber in my previous life!) Being fully immersed in the culture of a country is what makes our trips special.
What has been your most memorable Different Travel adventure to date?
There’s no way I could pick between them all! Every trip has been memorable for different reasons. I know that sounds like a cop out, but it’s true! The people you meet, whether they are locals or participants really make the trips what they are. I always enjoy hearing the funny anecdotes from our team members, and also getting to know adventurers from various walks of life, who all have a different story to tell. Aside from the people, the nature – the sunrises, sunsets, expanse of beauty you see when trekking and the food(!!!) make each and every trip special and memorable in their own ways too. Trekking is good for the soul!
If you could go on an adventure with three people (past or present, real or fictional) who would they be and why?
I would go with my Grandad. We were very close and when I was a child he was part of the ramblers and I joined him on many walks. He also loved travelling so would’ve really enjoyed the chance to come on an overseas trek.
Secondly the Queen of the Desert – Lady Hester Stanhope. She was a force of nature from the 1800s, travelling extensively, being the first woman to enter the Great Pyramid, being shipwrecked in Rhodes, and getting into trouble with the British Government for getting into mounds of debt from trying to help less fortunate people overseas. However the saying goes; ‘HMG have no control over Lady Stanhope’. She was a wild woman on the loose.
Thirdly Samwise Gamgee. He’s a lover of food and has an enormous spirit, and would make an all round perfect travel companion.
“Folk had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn’t. They kept going. Because they were holding onto something.”
Which Different Travel adventure appeals to you, and why?
I haven’t been to the Americas yet, and I think it has a lot to offer in terms of beauty, food and culture. I’d love to trek in the Escambray mountains or climb Machu Picchu! I’m also determined to climb to Everest Base Camp
What do you love about working with Different Travel
Where do I start… Sometimes I can’t believe this is my job! On a day to day basis we’re a small hardworking team, who look out for each other, and know how to have a laugh. Our meetings always revolve around our love for food and travel so we’re always finding exciting restaurants to enjoy together. I love our ethos and the reason that Different Travel was born. Our first groups departed after the Boxing Day tsunami in 2005, on a mission to help those affected in Sri Lanka and Thailand. We have carried on in this nature, through our responsible tourism ethos, but also strive to make a difference to the people who travel with us who get more out of their trip because they have the opportunity to give something back.
