About Different Challenge

What is Different Challenge?

Different Challenge is a range of ‘charity challenge’ style holidays which Different Travel run. The challenges are open to people who wish to use their time and holidays for raising funds for a charity in the UK, and are sponsored for completing a specific task or ‘challenge’.

Challenge 50/50:

This is where half of your holiday is spent on a traditional challenge (climbing a mountain, running a marathon, cycling a certain distance etc), with the other half spent working on a development programme (building a classroom, putting in a water supply to a village, preventing soil erosion through tree planting etc) in the host country.

Challenge 100:

This is where the whole period of the challenge is spent on a specific task or development project in the host country. In other words, the completion of the project is the challenge itself.

The beauty of our Different Challenge programmes is that they not only raise much needed funds for UK charities, but they also assist the development of communities in the host country. Therefore, you are helping people both at home and abroad.

If I go on one of the challenges, can I stay on after to do some independent traveling?

Yes. All our tours offer you post-challenge/project travel which we can arrange for you. Often there will be pre-planned tours which you can purchase separately, but we can also put together something specific should you wish us to. Please contact us for more details.

Can I choose which charity I want to support?

On our open challenges, yes. An 'open challenge' is not organized for a specific charity, but the individuals taking part can use the trip to support their favorite charity or charities. If you would like to take part, but have no particular favourite charity, then take a look at those we are working with and see if any appeal!

We also run 'Bespoke challenges' on which we work closely with a specific UK charity to raise funds for their organisation. If you wish to join one of these trips then you are very welcome to do so, but you will be asked to raise a minimum sponsorhips level for that particular charity.

Can I just pay to come on one of the holidays myself without securing any sponsorship?

Yes you can, but ask that you aim to raise funds for a charity of your choice (or one we can nominate if you so desire) the equivalent of the money which would normally be raised in sponsorship for the charity.

Do you put specific challenges together for specific charities?

Yes, we make tailor-made challenges for those charities who wish to offer something specifically for their members and supporters. Please contact us for more details.
