Be part of our team and join Baraka for this volunteer trip to Zambia. Our first two days are spent at Baraka's supported schools in an impoverished rural area north of Kabwe where we have recently built two classrooms. From Kabwe we travel to Lusaka, via another Baraka supported school for some more project work. Whilst in Lusaka we also spend a day at another Baraka school and we spend some time with some of Baraka's sponsored kids. After completing the project work we will set off for the Zambezi where we will enjoy two full days and two half days on a downstream canoe safari, looking out for elephants, hippos, crocodiles, antelope and many more animals.
Day 0 - Depart for Zambia
Depart home for Zambia. Flights to be booked yourself.
Day 1 (Mon 11th Sept) - Lusaka to Kabwe
Meet at Lusaka airport and transfer together to Luangwa Safari Lodge in Kabwe. Meals: Dinner.
Days 2-3 (Tue 12th - Wed 13th Sept) - Project work Kabwe
These two days will be spent at Ndili School where we have recently built two classrooms. Ndili school is a government school but lacking in much of the basic infrastructure required to provide an adequate learning environment. Each night we return to the Luangwa Safari Lodge. Meals: Breakfast and dinner.
Day 4 (Thu 14th Sept) - Kabwe to Lusaka
Today we leave Kabwe and travel to Lusaka, stopping en-route at Kamaila School for some project work. Upon arrival in Lusaka we will check into our accommodation for the next three nights. The Eureka lodge is a pleasant base with thatched chalets and tame wildlife roaming around. It is not unusual to walk around the grounds and come face to face with a giraffe or zebra! Meals: Breakfast
Days 5-6 (Fri 15th - Sat 16th Sept) - Project work
The first day will be spent doing project work at one of Baraka's schools in the Lusaka area. Baraka supports many schools around Lusaka and there is no shortage of venues that would benefit from our work for a day. We will also assist with the annual Baraka sponsored kids' day out - a trip highlight for many previous volunteers. Meals: None.
Days 8-9 (Mon 18th - Tue 19th Sept) - Zambezi
We spend these two full days canoeing on the Lower Zambezi and wild camping along the way, enjoying wonderful African evenings under canvas in this peaceful setting. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 10 (Wed 20th Sept) - End Lusaka
Our final morning brings us to the end of our self-powered journey on the Lower Zambezi, where we meet our speedboat which transports us back to the canoe start point for lunch, after which we travel by road back to Lusaka airport for our flights home (flights booked yourself). Meals: Breakfast and lunch.

In these circumstances we will make the best possible alternative arrangements that maintain the integrity of the original itinerary. In all such circumstances your tour leader will have the final say in the interest of the health and safety of the group.
