The Challenge

Witness some of Africa’s most spectacular scenery and wildlife as you canoe down the mighty Zambezi River and take the opportunity to volunteeer with local community development in Lusaka before exploring the mighty Victoria Falls.

Arriving in the Zambia capital of Lusaka we travel south to the stunning Zambezi River and surrounding national park. The Zambezi is Africa’s fourth largest river system and runs through six countries on its journey from central Africa to the Indian Ocean and its power carved out the spectacular Victoria Falls and the zigzagging Batoka Gorge.
Here the adventure really begins as we spend our days in the canoe downstream and our nights camped out on the banks of the river beneath a blanket of stars. This is an absolutely splendid way to appreciate the wonders of Zambia’s newest national park and the chance to see a host of wildlife up close.

The Volunteer Project

You will be undertake a range of community projects. Depending on the need at the time, this could include refurbishing a school, helping to renovate a building for community use, developing sport facilities, or skills sharing with local small businesses.

Finally, visit the breathtaking Victoria Falls – the planet’s largest curtain of water, considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World and the African Lion and Environmental Research Trust, recently featured on ITV in Lion Country where you will get to meet some of the lions that have been rescued.

We are also running a Zambezi Challenge in 2011. Click here for more details.
