Itinerary
Day 1: Fly from London to Kota Kinabalu
Day 2: Arrive in Kota Kinabalu and transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight
Days 3-6: Commence our challenging five day trek, passing through villages, farms and primary jungle. We'll learn about jungle survival and how to identify edible fruits and foods en route. Each day you'll trek for about 6-7 hrs, and at the end of each day's trek we'll set up camp and enjoy freshly cooked food. Our route will follow part of the track dating from the days of Sir Hugh Low's exploration of Mt Kinabalu.
Days 7-10: On day 7 we end our trek and transfer to Sukau where we receive a briefing on the orang-utan conservation project and settle into our homestay accommodation. For the next 3 days we work with the research officers, and help to record and observe the wild orangutans' behaviour. We’ll also go on some amazing river cruises where we'll spot yet more amazing wildlife.
Day 11:We visit the orang-utan sanctuary at Sepilok before returning by air to Kota Kinabalu and on to London, arriving the following morning.
