This jam-packed fitness week in Morocco starts in the coastal town of Essaouira where you will work on your fitness with a variety of activities from sunrise beach runs, circuit training, cycling along the coast and boxercise all while enjoying the culture and beauty of this amazing country. You will also have the opportunity to spend two nights close to the buzzing city of Marrakech before you head out to the Atlas Mountains for an envigorating trek in the awe-inspiring mountain landscape.
Day 1 (Sun 19 Apr): Marrakech - Essaouira On arrival in Marrakech transfer to our riad in Essaouira (approx. 3 hours). If there are no flight delays we will have a brief orientation of the town followed by a gentle beach run to stretch out the legs after the long journey. Meals: none.
Day 2 (Mon 20 Apr): Essaouira The day starts with an early morning interval running session on the long sandy beach before returning to our riad for breakfast. After breakfast you will have the chance to potter round the souks, perhaps finding some food for an optional picnic lunch. Our other sessions today include an ab workout and boxercise class, both of which will take place on the terrace of our riad, overlooking the medina's rooftops. Meals: breakfast.
Day 3 (Tue 21 Apr): Essaouira Once again we hit the beach for an early but different running session. The rest of the day can be spent enjoying the cafe culture of Essaouira, haggling in the souks or taking advantage of the reasonably priced spas for an argan oil massage. Our other sessions today will be a stretch class before lunch and a late afternoon circuit session; both on the terrace. Meals: breakfast.
Day 4 (Wed 22 Apr): Essaouira Today we head down the coast to the sleepy surfer village of Sidi Kouki. You will have the option of a 20-30km cycle along a quiet but beautiful coastal road with stunning views of the coastline and surrounding area. For those not wishing to cycle, Sidi Kouki beach is a perfect running/walking beach with plenty of cafes and restaurants. Returning to Essaouira we will stop off at one of the many argan cooperatives in the region to see how this ancient but newly fashionable oil is produced. Meals: breakfast and packed lunch.
Day 5 (Thu 23 Apr): Essaouira Our last day in Essaouira will include a beach run and a further boxercise session. You will have plenty of free time to enjoy the delights of Essaouira at your leisure. Meals: breakfast.
Day 6 (Fri 24 Apr): Essaouira - Marrakech After our final morning beach running session and breakfast we transfer to Marrakech for an optional lunch at our beautiful riad, situated just outside the pink city. You will have a few hours to relax before we head off into town for a wander around the medina (old town) where you can try your hand at the art of haggling with the legendary local shopkeepers. Meals: breakfast.
Day 7 (Sat 25 Apr): Atlas Mountains Today we drive south (approx. 1.5 hours) from Marrakech into the Atlas Mountains for a full day's walking in the Zat Valley where the lush greenery, cool breezes and rugged rocky outcrops make this a hiker's dream. During the trek we will pass through small Berber villages allowing us to gain an insight into the culture and way of life of the Berber people. Meals: breakfast, packed lunch, dinner.
Day 8 (Sun 26 Apr): Marrakech A pre breakfast circuit class is available for those wishing to get some travel day exercise before a transfer back to Marrakech airport for the flight home (flight booked yourself). Meals: breakfast.
