Trip Overview

Join Christian Aid on this educational trip to Malawi. Visiting various Christian Aid projects across the country you will have an exclusive opportunity to see the work of Christian Aid first hand.

Itinerary

Day 1-2 (Tuesday 13th - Wednesday 14th March): London - Lilongwe
Depart for an indirect overnight flight to Lilongwe. Upon arrival this afternoon we will transfer to Lilongwe Hotel where we have the rest of the day to settle in and perhaps enjoy some local sightseeing. This evening we will gather for a welcome dinner at the restaurant which is opposite the concierge desk in Lilongwe Hotel. (Meals: dinner)

Day 3 (Thursday 15th March): Lilongwe - Machinga
After breakfast this morning we will depart for the drive to Liwonde in the Machinga district (approx. 4 hours). Upon arrival we will check in at the Hippo View Lodge and embark on a game drive this afternoon. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 4 (Friday 16th March): Machinga
An early start today to visit Christian Aid projects in Machinga and Balaka. (Meals: breakfast, packed lunch, dinner)

Day 5 (Saturday 17th March): Machinga - Mwanza - Blantyre
We depart after breakfast for the drive to Mwanza (approx. 3 hours) where we will visit another Christian Aid project. We will then continue to Blantyre where we check into the Malawi Sun Hotel for the next three nights. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 6 (Sunday 18th March): Blantyre
Today is free for you to relax and explore Blantyre, named after the birthplace of missionary Dr David Livingstone. For those who are interested arrangements can be made to attend a local church service.(Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 7 (Monday 19th March): Blantyre
Today you will visit the Nandoro Association to learn how they are supporting farmers in Malawi. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 8 (Tuesday 20th March): Blantyre - Senga Bay
Depart for Senga Bay (approx. 4 hours) and check into the Sunbird Livingstonia Resort, on the shores of Lake Malawi. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure, or you can arrange optional activities locally. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 9 (Wednesday 21st March): Senga Bay - Lilongwe
Today we return to Lilongwe (approx. 2 hours) and visit the charity office for a debrief on the trip. We stay overnight at the Lilongwe Hotel. (Meals: breakfast, dinner)

Day 10 (Thursday 22nd March): Lilongwe - London
Today we say farewell to Malawi and transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK. (Meals: breakfast)

Day 11 (Friday 23rd March): London
Arrive in London this morning.
