Annapurna Base Camp

The Challenge

Our trek begins not far from the picturesque lakeside town of Pokhara and the route to Annapurna Base Camp is packed with interest throughout, with Gurung villages, natural hot springs at Jinu Danda (perfect for reviving weary legs!), lots of hillside steps on our way to Chhomorong and a mountain bamboo forest. We head first for Macchupuchre Base Camp at 3700m, and from here we push on for our final ascent to Annapurna Base Camp at 4131m, where spectacular views in all directions await. Our return to Pokhara takes us via Ghandruk and Nayapul, which are shared with the larger Annapurna Circuit trek.

If there is time, and you have the energy, there will be a chance to hike a little further up to explore the area around the glacier, and perhaps catch a glimpse of the sun setting on Fishtail Mountain this evening! We stay in a teahouse at Annapurna Base Camp this evening to make the most of this spectacular setting. Trekking: Approx. 5 hours. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner. Overnight: Teahouse
