BUSINESS WOMEN VENUS AWARDS ANNOUNCES SOUTHAMPTON EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR
Lexi Quinton of Different Travel named Employee of the Year

24-May-2012

Lexi Quinton, of the Totton-based tour operator The Different Travel Company, was awarded the Employee of the Year prize at a glamorous ceremony in Southampton’s historic Grand Café on May 22. The award, which was sponsored by Heart FM, was to celebrate a Southampton employee that goes the extra mile in her job, and with two other finalists, Abby Bartlett from Upton McGougan and Fay Reeve of Seawork Exhibition, Lexi said she felt the competition was tough.

The Venus Awards were set up by Tara Howard, of the Dorset Langtry Manor Hotel in 2009 to recognise and reward the hard work and skill of women in the Dorset community. The awards were so popular that it expanded to Southampton, with 2012 marking the inaugural year of the Southampton Venus Awards.

"I still can't believe I won" said Ms Quinton, 26, "but I couldn't have got this far without the support of my fantastic colleagues and clients who make my job such a pleasure. It's great to work for Different Travel as I love helping charities, both locally and nationally, raise lots of money and awareness for their cause through our overseas challenges."

Sarah Yalland, Managing Director of Different Travel said that "Lexi works incredibly hard to ensure she always provides flawless customer service and support to our charity partners. Nothing is too much trouble. She is passionate about what she does and is committed to helping her clients experience the joys of travel."

The Different Travel Company, a finalist in the Southampton Venus Awards Dot Com award category, is a tour operator that specialise in overseas charity challenges and adventure holidays. Many of their tours combine an active element, such as trekking in the Himalayas or climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, with short term community or conservation projects to enable participants to give something back to the local community while in the destination country.
